Many people dive into the world of the online MLM business as if it were a one-size-fits-all affair. They feel as though they have only one choice available, and that they must mold themselves to that kind of business. But in reality, the internet has transformed the way we do business and there are literally hundreds of work at home business ideas out there for you to choose from.

If you limit yourself and actually try to conform to a kind of business that is not in keeping with your personal strengths, you will likely end in failure. Search for the job that suits you and you will have success. Try to force yourself into a business that you are unqualified for or dislike, and you will find yourself failing again and again. Following are three tips you should keep in mind when choosing a new profession:

1.    Previous Experience

Obviously, if you have always hated your current 9 to 5 job, you won’t want to start a home based business online doing that same thing. On the other hand, you can bring a wealth of experience to your new career if you just keep your previous work experience in mind when seeking a new job. These experiences can be practical in nature, such as customer service skills, computer skills, or training in certain elements such as graphic design or bookkeeping. Or they can be more akin to “life lessons,” or intangible skills like multitasking, patience, or having initiative.

2.    Personal Interests

You will also want to keep your own personal interests in mind when choosing a job. If you have a hobby that you feel passionate about, see if you can find ways to incorporate it into your new online internet business opportunity. For example, if you enjoy photography, maybe you can use examples of your craft on your website.

3.    Personal Goals

Finally, you want to decide what your personal goals are, as you embark on your new career. Do you just want a creative outlet, or do you want to achieve financial independence? Obviously, your career approach will be different depending upon what you want to accomplish. If you are interested in amassing wealth, you will be a lot more financially driven, but if you want to express yourself, you will focus on creativity.

Network Marketing System 101: The Basics

You may have heard about a network marketing system and how you can build one to benefit your business. But if you are new to the home based career world, you may be unfamiliar with this term. In fact, if you are readying the blog, chances are you are in need of network marketing information. So consider this your basic guide to network marketing advertising and how it can work for your business.

What Is Network Marketing?

Network marketing, also known as MLM marketing, is one of the oldest forms of marketing for home based businesses. Many well-known institutions, like Mary Kay, Avon and Tupperware, have used MLM advertising to grow their companies into the hugely successful companies they are today.

With this kind of marketing system, you recruit salespeople to sell your products. In return, they earn a commission on each sale. They are encouraged to recruit other salespeople to the company as well, and you earn a portion of the commissions of each recruit you bring on board. The idea is that you can eventually stop selling yourself, and live off the commissions you receive, a concept that is known as “residual income.”

How Do You Incorporate Network Marketing Into Your Business?

You can use the tips and techniques I offer on my website to help incorporate this kind of marketing system to your own home based business. Many people worry that they cannot use this kind of system because they feel they don’t qualify – that they are too small or the products they offer are too obscure to warrant marketing. Well, you can’t afford not to market your company, especially in this economy. The beauty of network marketing is that it can be adapted to every kind of small business, no matter what you do or sell.

Why You Need Network Marketing

You need to have a marketing plan. Going into business without a marketing system is like starting a road trip without a map. You know where you want to go, but have no idea how to get there. By implementing this marketing system, you can take your business from small to spectacular in no time. You will be able to retire quickly and with dignity, or you can keep working as long as you are having fun!

A network marketing program is not infallible. In fact, no matter how savvy or sophisticated your network marketing system is, it will fail if you bring the wrong attitude with you to work. The system is there to help, and the best internet MLM marketing systems are highly automated and work 24-7 to keep your business on the front page of any search engine. But that kind of automated work can only take you so far your first year in network marketing. You cannot build a successful business without the right mentality.

You Must Be All About Teamwork

I have a team of dedicated professionals who work together to build our businesses. For my team, there really is no “I” in teamwork. We are all working together with a shared goal and a shared sense of purpose. If you want to succeed, you will need to join my team with a cooperative and helpful spirit. A team is really only as strong as your weakest member, but we are all strong team players in my group.

You Must Have Dedication

It’s so much easier to go out and work a dead-end job than to become an entrepreneur. If all you have to do is show up, you can collect a mediocre paycheck until the company forces you out. But if you desire something more, then you can bring that spirit of dedication and drive with you to a network marketing business opportunity and have the chance to do something truly great. With perseverance, you could become independently wealthy.

You Must Have Optimism

Owning your own business is rough, no doubt about that. You will have the encouragement and support of your fellow teammates, and that kind of support system will help you overcome many obstacles. But when you own your own business, you will be constantly working to overcome challenges. If you look upon each challenge as an opportunity for improvement, then you have the right attitude. The small business owner must be optimistic; otherwise, it’s too easy to just give up in the face of your first big challenge.

Word of mouth simply doesn’t cut it anymore, if you are looking for an efficient way to market your own business. The internet has fundamentally changed not only the way we do business, but how we advertise that business to the world. It makes no sense to use an old-school method of promotion when you are developing a cutting edge work at home business idea. I discuss this a lot in my blog, and I can’t reiterate it enough. There are three key reasons that word of mouth advertising will not help you promote your network marketing internet business effectively:

It’s Old-Fashioned

Word of mouth is an old-fashioned, outdated method of spreading the word about your business. When you invest in a home business opportunity online, you are competing against literally thousands of entrepreneurs who are as hungry for business as you are. In such a fiercely competitive environment, you need a marketing system that harnesses the power of the internet to propel your sales and cause the exponential growth of your company. Word of mouth is local, network marketing is global. For more about how you can exponentially grow your company through the internet, check out MLM Lead System Pro.

There’s No Target

Another reason word of mouth is so outdated is that it targets a localized audience who may or may not have any interest in your company. In fact, word of mouth is more about geography than about shared interests and passions. You want to locate an audience that has a desire to invest in your company, and the internet can help you find your target audience. For more information about targeting recruits, check out the advice at Black Belt Recruiting.

There’s No Discrimination

As mentioned above, you lack a targeted audience when you advertise via word of mouth. But you also lack the ability to focus on salespeople with experience and know-how in marketing and sales. When you recruit the old-fashioned way, you get a mix of people who have no background in sales, and perhaps they lack the ability to properly market your products. With network marketing systems, you have a much better than average chance of recruiting people who know what they’re doing and require minimal training and hand-holding to bring in huge sales.

3 Rules to Join My Online MLM Business

My online MLM business is reaching the point of critical mass; using the marketing strategies my team and I have developed, our company is on the verge of exponential growth. We want to bring dedicated marketing professionals on board. If you are new to home based business marketing, the system we give you to duplicate is a lead generating machine. You won’t find a better or more lucrative way to spend your first year in network marketing. But before you contact me, you should know I have three rules for anyone wishing to join my network marketing program:

1.    I Am Looking for a Partner

One of the reasons my business is so successful is that I recruit people who are highly motivated. I am looking for partners in business; individuals who are willing to do the work in order to reach goals. You must be a highly motivated worker to join this team – there is no room for anyone who isn’t a team player. If you were the kind of kid who had your own lemonade stand when you were growing up – welcome aboard! You are the kind of person I want to join my team.

2.    You Must Be Coachable

I provide you with the network marketing information you need to create a thriving business. In return, I need you to be the kind of person who is coachable. I am looking for students who are eager to learn, who can take constructive criticism, and who enjoy the entire process of learning how to build a business. If you are the kind of person who is always eager to find ways to improve yourself, if you can take criticism and use it to improve your business, then you are definitely welcome on my team.

3.    No Whining Please

Finally, there is no whining allowed on my team. We are all hard-working, devoted professionals and with us, the buck truly stops here. So if you are the kind of person who takes responsibility for your actions, or takes ownership of a situation so you can make things better, you are one of us. Welcome to the team!

Whether you are new to internet MLM marketing, or have been in it for a while, you need to know that the old school methods of MLM advertising don’t work. I know we are all told that if you recruit a certain way, your business will grow exponentially in a very short period of time – overnight, in fact.

But the truth is that the old school methods of network marketing recruiting will only get you so far. I know, because when I started out I did the same thing and I could see my audience shrinking by the day. I knew there had to be a better way, and that’s why I want you to work with me directly. Still need to be convinced? Here are 3 reasons why the old methods don’t work:

1.    You Choose from a Limited Pool of Candidates

If you follow network marketing the old-fashioned way, you generate an MLM lead by asking your friends and families to participate. This means you limit your pool of candidates to people you already know. You aren’t harnessing the power of the internet to tap into the huge market of people who might be interested in working with you. Instead, you limit yourself to your own backyard, and that’s just too limited for an ambitious entrepreneur.

2.    You Play off Familiarity, Not Strengths

By following old-school methods, you aren’t just limiting yourself to your own backyard. You are also playing off the familiarity of friends and family, who may not be qualified to even run a successful business. You trade on personal relationships, not professional strength, to grow your company if you follow the old methods. To me, that’s just barely even ethical – not to mention potentially hazardous for the health of your company.

3.    You Tap Out Your Audience

Finally, if you follow these methods you will tap out your audience. You will reach a point at which you have contacted everyone you know and you won’t have any more candidates interested in your company. But if you actually look for leads on the internet, you have an unlimited audience receptive to your company. You never run out of growth potential.

Let’s say one of your buddies comes up to you and he has an inside track on a lucrative online internet business opportunity and he’s willing to let you in on the ground floor. He says you’d be a fool to pass it up and is promising a work from home business idea that will lead to financial security. Should you jump at the chance? The answer is no, not without careful consideration. There are three major factors you should consider before joining any network marketing internet business:

1.    What Are Your Strengths?

No matter what your career background has been, chances are you have learned skills and have innate talents that you can bring to an MLM marketing system. Make sure that the job you are considering is one that plays to these strengths. If you find a career that caters to your talents and skills, you are more likely to be successful and more likely to enjoy the career switch. This also means that you are more likely to stick with your newfound career, enjoying the challenges and persevering through any difficult times you may face.

2.    What Does the New Career Require?

Many new business opportunities require not only a basic skill set, but also an upfront investment of cash. Make sure you read all the fine print and know what’s required of you before you sign on with any company. Also, make sure you understand what kind of support they offer new trainees during that crucial first year. They may also require you to undergo training sessions and to link up with a mentor to help you through your first year in network marketing. If they don’t offer any kind of support or if they require a huge cash investment that you cannot afford, it’s best to keep looking for a different opportunity.

3.    What Is This New Company Like?

Unfortunately, scammers proliferate on the internet and for every legitimate offer out there, there are about three scams. So even if a buddy comes up to you with a do-or-die idea, make sure you check out the company yourself. Make sure there aren’t any complaints filed against them with the Better Business Bureau. Do a little judicious googling and see if any consumer-watch groups have them in their sights. You want a new career but you don’t want to get swindled, so a little research is wise before you make that leap.

There are naysayers out there who feel that it’s not important to put a face on internet MLM marketing businesses anymore. They argue that the average network marketing internet business is a flash in the pan and there is not even enough time to build a relationship with the consumer. They urge you to get in while you can, earn as much money as you can quickly, and then leave to find another way to make money.

I don’t like this way of looking at a network marketing program. I think it’s important to brand your company so you can establish a relationship with your consumers. On the other hand, I do believe that the old-fashioned ways of branding your online internet business opportunity are outdated and irrelevant.

Using my system, I will show you three easy ways you can brand your company and establish a following:

1.    Generate Traffic

You can begin to build up your home business opportunity online by harnessing the power of the internet. You need to drive traffic to a website, to your videos on YouTube, your blogs, and social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. The more traffic you have, the more likely you are to reach out to a wide audience that will be interested in your products.

2.    Build Relationships

Once you have generated some traffic, you need to build up loyalty and trust. This is what will keep your customers returning for more. It leads to steady growth for your company and customer retention so you aren’t constantly searching for a new audience. You can accomplish this by offering information or content of value to your audience.

3.    Provide Solutions

Finally, you retain the audience with whom you have built a relationship based on trust by offering them solutions to their current problems. You can demonstrate how your business or its affiliates can provide your clients with the tools they need to solve their problems, grow their businesses, or the like. The important thing is to offer a solution of value, and to demonstrate to your clients exactly how your company can provide them with the answers they need. In other words, it’s not enough to advertise — you must promote!

Generating an MLM business lead used to be as simple as recruiting a friend or a neighbor to join your company. In fact, that’s how many new entrepreneurs start network marketing recruiting and many old-school MLM trainers will still tell you it’s the best way to get started. But there are several problems associated with this method:

•    This method forces you to mix business with family or friendships, and that can be a recipe for disaster. If your relatives or friends cannot make the commitment to your network marketing business opportunity, or they don’t want to for any reason, it can cause a considerable strain on your relationships.

•    Even if you do have some success recruiting people you know, eventually you will tap out everyone in your circle of acquaintances and your recruitment resource will dry up.

•    This method forces you to seek out only people you know and not people who would be skilled at internet MLM marketing. So your recruits may, in the end, not ever close a sale which would make them useless to your business.

Obviously, it’s time for a better way to recruit. The new social media phenomenon may just be the way to go.

What Is Social Media?

Social media is the common term for blogs, online communities, wikis, and other forms of collaborative online media. Using these forms of media to drive the marketing for your company and recruit new sellers has now surpassed even email marketing as the best method for reaching an audience. These methods have a superior way of creating buzz, engaging your audience to participate directly with your company.

How Can I Use Social Media to Promote My Business?

You can begin your research into the social media phenomenon by checking out websites like Social Media Science, which offers case studies that illustrate how social media marketing can work for you. Or you can go to a site like Tweet Adder, which offers a step-by-step guide for promoting your business through Twitter. This sites will help you discover how you can harness the power of the internet to drive your sales and generate new MLM leads that are relevant and potentially lucrative for your company.

2 Things to Avoid with Internet MLM Marketing

You’re in your first year of network marketing and you are following all the rules. You want to become independently wealthy and you are following all the old-school rules of internet MLM marketing to reach your goal. As you branch out further and further in an attempt to accomplish some network marketing lead generation, you find your prospects actually drying up. Maybe some people stop returning your calls, or maybe you are finding an audience harder and harder to sniff out. Whatever the reason, the steady growth of your business is halting and you need answers.

This slowdown is inevitable if you are using the old-school methods to grow your network marketing system. In fact, there are two supposedly tried-and-true methods that you should never attempt, because they usually fail:

Stop Recruiting Family and Friends

This is the #1 reason that network marketing fails. Your family and friends may not care about your new business, or may not be in a place where they can invest in it, and if you continue to ask them about it, you will put a strain on these relationships. It’s much more professional–and lucrative–to focus on recruiting trained sales professionals who have a proven track record for bringing in large clients. Those are the kinds of salespeople who can help your company really take off.

Stop Using the Old Methods of Advertising

Do you remember when email became the next big thing as far as advertising went? Companies around the globe were trying to grow their email lists in an attempt to reach a captive audience who was already interested in the products they had to offer. That was well over a decade ago and times have changed. How many email lists are you on now? And how often do you delete those emails without even bothering to read them? Yep–email marketing is as dead as the dodo, so why keep using it as your main source of networking? Why not turn to new and exciting ways to market your company?
