If you are new to the work at home business industry, you’ll probably get a lot of outdated advice on how to generate an MLM business lead. My advice is, don’t listen to these old school methods. Instead, blaze a new trail for your business by using new school methods to generate leads. There are three main reasons you should completely avoid old school methods:

1.    They’re Too Localized

One of the worst failings of the old school method of network marketing recruiting is that it limits you to one geographic area. If you only contact the people you know or try to generate recruits in your area, you are missing out on 99% of the world.

We operate in a global marketplace now; the internet has fundamentally changed the way we do business. Back in the days before the internet came along, sticking with one geographic area made sense. But now that you can access the world with one click of the mouse, it simply doesn’t make sense to limit yourself to your hometown.

2.    They Limit You to Familiarity

Back in the dark ages of network marketing lead generation, you were trained to get your family and friends involved. Trading on bonds of familiarity and trust, you were supposed to grow your company by hiring those you love to work for you. Let me ask you, how well does that work? Is mixing friends and business, or family bonds and business, ever a good idea?

The answer is no. If you limit yourself to friends and relatives, then you are missing out on the potential of recruiting qualified folks who have a real passion for what you do. Plus, you run the risk of souring your personal relationships; there’s no guarantee that your loved ones will be good at what you do.

3.    They Don’t Manipulate the Power of the Internet

Finally, you should spend your first year in network marketing exploring the power of the internet. These old school methods were developed before anyone anticipated that something like the internet would even exist. So now that you have a global marketplace at your fingertips, why not use the methods that work best with it and harness its power?

You can take your business well past your initial goals once you start using new school methods that really work with the advantages the internet has to offer. Wouldn’t you rather experience exponential growth your first year, rather than barely skating by? I thought so!
