You may have heard about a network marketing system and how you can build one to benefit your business. But if you are new to the home based career world, you may be unfamiliar with this term. In fact, if you are readying the blog, chances are you are in need of network marketing information. So consider this your basic guide to network marketing advertising and how it can work for your business.

What Is Network Marketing?

Network marketing, also known as MLM marketing, is one of the oldest forms of marketing for home based businesses. Many well-known institutions, like Mary Kay, Avon and Tupperware, have used MLM advertising to grow their companies into the hugely successful companies they are today.

With this kind of marketing system, you recruit salespeople to sell your products. In return, they earn a commission on each sale. They are encouraged to recruit other salespeople to the company as well, and you earn a portion of the commissions of each recruit you bring on board. The idea is that you can eventually stop selling yourself, and live off the commissions you receive, a concept that is known as “residual income.”

How Do You Incorporate Network Marketing Into Your Business?

You can use the tips and techniques I offer on my website to help incorporate this kind of marketing system to your own home based business. Many people worry that they cannot use this kind of system because they feel they don’t qualify – that they are too small or the products they offer are too obscure to warrant marketing. Well, you can’t afford not to market your company, especially in this economy. The beauty of network marketing is that it can be adapted to every kind of small business, no matter what you do or sell.

Why You Need Network Marketing

You need to have a marketing plan. Going into business without a marketing system is like starting a road trip without a map. You know where you want to go, but have no idea how to get there. By implementing this marketing system, you can take your business from small to spectacular in no time. You will be able to retire quickly and with dignity, or you can keep working as long as you are having fun!

Word of Mouth vs. Network Marketing Advertising

Word of mouth simply doesn’t cut it anymore, if you are looking for an efficient way to market your own business. The internet has fundamentally changed not only the way we do business, but how we advertise that business to the world. It makes no sense to use an old-school method of promotion when you are developing a cutting edge work at home business idea. I discuss this a lot in my blog, and I can’t reiterate it enough. There are three key reasons that word of mouth advertising will not help you promote your network marketing internet business effectively:

It’s Old-Fashioned

Word of mouth is an old-fashioned, outdated method of spreading the word about your business. When you invest in a home business opportunity online, you are competing against literally thousands of entrepreneurs who are as hungry for business as you are. In such a fiercely competitive environment, you need a marketing system that harnesses the power of the internet to propel your sales and cause the exponential growth of your company. Word of mouth is local, network marketing is global. For more about how you can exponentially grow your company through the internet, check out MLM Lead System Pro.

There’s No Target

Another reason word of mouth is so outdated is that it targets a localized audience who may or may not have any interest in your company. In fact, word of mouth is more about geography than about shared interests and passions. You want to locate an audience that has a desire to invest in your company, and the internet can help you find your target audience. There’s No Discrimination

As mentioned above, you lack a targeted audience when you advertise via word of mouth. But you also lack the ability to focus on salespeople with experience and know-how in marketing and sales. When you recruit the old-fashioned way, you get a mix of people who have no background in sales, and perhaps they lack the ability to properly market your products. With network marketing systems, you have a much better than average chance of recruiting people who know what they’re doing and require minimal training and hand-holding to bring in huge sales.

Let’s say one of your buddies comes up to you and he has an inside track on a lucrative online internet business opportunity and he’s willing to let you in on the ground floor. He says you’d be a fool to pass it up and is promising a work from home business idea that will lead to financial security. Should you jump at the chance? The answer is no, not without careful consideration. There are three major factors you should consider before joining any network marketing internet business:

1.    What Are Your Strengths?

No matter what your career background has been, chances are you have learned skills and have innate talents that you can bring to an MLM marketing system. Make sure that the job you are considering is one that plays to these strengths. If you find a career that caters to your talents and skills, you are more likely to be successful and more likely to enjoy the career switch. This also means that you are more likely to stick with your newfound career, enjoying the challenges and persevering through any difficult times you may face.

2.    What Does the New Career Require?

Many new business opportunities require not only a basic skill set, but also an upfront investment of cash. Make sure you read all the fine print and know what’s required of you before you sign on with any company. Also, make sure you understand what kind of support they offer new trainees during that crucial first year. They may also require you to undergo training sessions and to link up with a mentor to help you through your first year in network marketing. If they don’t offer any kind of support or if they require a huge cash investment that you cannot afford, it’s best to keep looking for a different opportunity.

3.    What Is This New Company Like?

Unfortunately, scammers proliferate on the internet and for every legitimate offer out there, there are about three scams. So even if a buddy comes up to you with a do-or-die idea, make sure you check out the company yourself. Make sure there aren’t any complaints filed against them with the Better Business Bureau. Do a little judicious googling and see if any consumer-watch groups have them in their sights. You want a new career but you don’t want to get swindled, so a little research is wise before you make that leap.

When I first began my network marketing business opportunity, I had a lifetime of business experience behind me. I come from a family of entrepreneurs; in fact, I worked in the family business until we sold the first branch in 1999 and the second branch in 2003.

After that I went into real estate until the bubble burst, then I was introduced to the network marketing system by a business acquaintance. My first year was pretty good because I was able to call on all of my business training, but I knew the time would come when I finally would run out of leads.

Network Marketing Lead Generation

Around the time I realized I was going to run out of ways to generate leads on my own, I found a mentor who showed me how network marketing prospecting should really be ran. Here’s one big hint: don’t rely on friends and families to be your main leads. There is a vast untapped market of potential leads out there, and my mentor showed me how I could reach that audience. In no time, I was able to grow my company well past my wildest dreams.

Your First Year in Network Marketing

Your first year in network marketing will be the hardest year you encounter. In fact, 97% of all new network marketing entrepreneurs fail within the first year. Why? Because you will be encouraged to rely upon old-school methods that simply don’t work any longer. Hiring a mentor to help you grow your business steadily is one of the soundest investments you can make in your new career.

You Wouldn’t Start a Road Trip without a Map…

…or a GPS or some kind of plan of attack. You wouldn’t leave on a cross-country drive with the gas tank riding on “E,” right? So why would you embark on a potentially life-changing career without an idea of how to be successful? Hiring a mentor is like getting your map ready and filling your tank with gas before you leave town. You have a much better chance of reaching your destination without breaking down on the side of the road.
